Creative process
The way I design is constantly evolving. Training in printed textiles at St Martins, designing handbags for luxury fashion brands, and creating my homeware line have collectively influenced my creative practise.
influences & Inspiration
I study old archives & catalogues for old chintz techniques, which have commercially speaking died out with. I try to emulate them, in my own style, using very modern tools.
Laura Ashley & William Morris are hugely influential on my work, both entrepreneurially and aesthetically. But I never want to create a pastiche.
I visit old houses and antique fairs at weekends, and consistently look to fill my creative tank.
sketching & painting
Drawing daily helps distill my thoughts into concrete designs.
I now mostly paint and design digitally, using my iPad. I’ve taught myself to digitally replicate those old world looks. Moving into digital art has completely transformed the way in which I work.
designinG
All my products are designed and drawn from beginning to end by me. It’s a labour of love which ensures the products I create are truly unique in the world and special to own.
Shells, flowers, ribbons and plants motifs frequently appear in my designs, in the tradition of chintz. Pulling a stylised nature into the home.
to the factory
Once I have worked out my design, I begin to make technical drawings from which the factory can make samples. Every element, beit embroidery thread, print colour & fabric is painstakingly hand picked.
I care deeply about the manufacturers who craft my products beautifully & understand my vision.
