Journey to Madras

This week I've been in Chennai formerly known as Madras, India for work.  It's rare to have the chance to visit anything outside the office and hotel on trips. So in the mornings I make the most of my window on modern Indian life from the car.  I think you can tell a lot about a nation during frantic rush hour.  India is changing at a terrific pace; more women than ever drive cars, people have swapped bicycles for motorbikes, using your mobile whilst driving is not illegal, construction is underway every where you turn.  Despite this, India seems to maintain its strong sense of tradition and family.  The old and new appear to nestle comfortably side by side.
