Whilst gently restoring her Victorian flat back to a period aesthetic, Isla Simpson was inspired to found her distinctive blog in 2013.  Through sourcing furnishings and original features for her own home, she was captured by a trendless world of classic English period style.  Her distinctive tone and photography features antiques, interiors, architecture, last generation craftsmen and historic places of interest for a new generation.  She describes her blog as “Notes on living an English period lifestyle in the 21st century.”

Originally from a fashion background, Isla graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2002 and built a successful career in handbag and leather goods design, designing for brands such as Aspinal of London, Anya Hindmarch and Whistles.  Currently, she works freelance; sketching, styling, creating colour palettes, mood boards and concepts in leather.

In her role as Contributing Editor for House & Garden online, Isla writes features on hidden corners of London and beyond, with a period aesthetic.  She has collaborated with brands including; The Landmark Trust, Peyton & Byrne, Christies and Fine Cell Work.
